China to deepen friendly cooperation with Cuba

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that China would deepen its mutually beneficial cooperation with Cuba in various fields and refresh China-Cuba ties.

China also would continue to adhere to the policy of long-term friendship with Cuba, maintain high-level exchanges and strengthen exchanges on governance experience with Cuba, Wang said Sunday when meeting former Cuban leader Fidel Castro.

Castro, the founder of both Cuba's socialist revolution and Cuba-China ties, was widely respected by the Chinese people and all people around the world who love peace, said Wang who is in Cuba on the first stop of a four-nation Latin America tour.

Castro said China's enormous achievements in economic development had made important contributions to the peace and development of humanity.

The Cuba-China relationship had entered its best period, Castro said, adding that the two countries should support each other, learn from each other and strive to further enhance bilateral ties.

Wang will also visit Venezuela, Argentina and Brazil. Endi
