Plushenko hopeful to contest in 2018 Winter Olympics

Russian figure skating star Yevgeny Plushenko said Wednesday he planned to take part in the next Winter Olympic Games.

"Everything that was broken has been recovered," Itar-Tass news agency quoted him as saying. ( The 31-year-old skater said he would try "to participate successfully" in the 2018 Winter Olympics to be held in South Korea, the fifth Games in his sports career.

Plushenko, an Olympic medal-winner in 2002, 2006, 2010 and in the team event at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, skipped the final part of the Sochi Games just minutes before the performance due to sudden back pain. He underwent a surgery in March.

Later in June, Plushenko was included into the roster of the Russian figure skating national team for the upcoming season, marking the formal return of the "Ice Prince." Endit
