NOS Air Race Championships kick off in Portugal

Over 500,000 people are expected to attend the first edition of an aircraft race in Cascais, a seaside town just outside Portuguese capital Lisbon, this weekend.

The "NOS Air Race Chiampionship" was an idea proposed by Nuno Moleirinho and Sergio Teixeira, after they saw a similar event in Britain.

"We have great expectations, we have fantastic, international pilots with a lot of experience who will light up the bay," Moleirinho told Portuguese news agency Lusa on Saturday.

There will be two types of aircraft: "vintage" aircraft, like those from the second world war, and "extreme" aircraft, which perform acrobatic stunts. Endi
