Slovenian police have arrested 14 persons and seized more than 70 kg of illicit drugs in a raid against a gang who have been running drugs trafficking in the Balkan region.
The arrests was made on Wednesday after a months-long international investigation, during which a total of 36 suspects have been identified in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Austria, Germany, Italy, among others, Slovian Press Agency reported on Thursday.
The latest anti-drug campaign followed a crack-down in October 2013 on an international criminal gang smuggling drugs to Slovenia and other European countries.
At least 12 people, aged between 25 and 50, were arrested, and more than one million euros (1.36 million U.S. dollars) worth of illegal drugs in street value seized in Slovenia at the time.
Slovenia, situated in Central and Southeastern Europe, has become increasingly an important transit link in the illegal drug trade in the continent, according to police. Endi
