2 Turkish nationals said to serve as commanders in ISIL

Turkey's intelligence service had found two Turkish citizens commanding militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), local Daily News reported Thursday.

The two, identified as Ismet A. from Ankara and Murat G. from Konya, were detected by the National Intelligence Organization to be serving as high-ranking commanders at ISIL training camps, the paper said, citing an investigation by the chief public prosecutor 's office in Ankara in June.

Turkey has been conducting a probe into ISIL's raid on Turkey's consulate in Mosul, Iraq, on June 11, when 49 diplomatic staff including the consul-general, and their family members, were kidnapped.

The prosecutor has since ordered the country's intelligence service to investigate ISIL links inside Turkey, as well as its leadership cadre, said the report. Endi
