Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan condemned Wednesday's twin bomb blasts in Kaduna that left scores of people dead and several others injured.

Security sources and eyewitness said two bomb blasts rocked Nigeria's northern state of Kaduna, killing more than 70 persons.

In a statement released here, the Nigerian leader condemned the attacks which appeared to have targeted the former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, and prominent Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi.

The president denounces the dastardly targeting of the prominent political and religious leaders by terrorists and enemies of the nation.

He expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the blasts.

The Nigerian leader has specifically directed the police and other security agencies to take all necessary actions to apprehend the perpetrators of the attacks.

Nigeria currently grapples with various security challenges, part of which is the insurgency of Boko Haram, a group which seeks to enshrine the Islamic sharia law in the constitution of the West African country. Endi
