Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia have signed a three-year sponsorship deal with Italian sports apparel company during which the team will be fully kitted with the Joma brand.

The sponsorship, valued at over 50,000 U.S. dollars, will also see Joma produce authentic replica jerseys among other merchandising items which will be available for sale to the club members, fans and supporters.

"Gor Mahia is one of the best clubs in Africa and deserves to get the best. We will change the kit every two years of the contract," Maurizio Ramacciotti, representative of Studio Sports who are the Italian subsidiary of the Spanish firm said during the launch of the kit in Nairobi on Thursday.

Chrispine Omondi, Gor Mahia secretary general, said the club has with immediate effect banned the sale of any other form of replica other than the ones produced by Joma, noting that this is the first time the club has signed a sponsorship deal with a sports apparel company.

"We are pleased with what we have got. Before, we had been playing with unbranded kit. We used to play with whatever we got, but now we want to wear what we choose," Omondi said.

"The team will wear the new kit on Sunday against AFC Leopards during the weekend derby." The home kit is all green; away kit all white and the neutral kit all blue.

There is also fans jacket, training kits, sweat tops, track suits, relax kits, bags, fans replica jerseys, ladies relaxers, all of which will be available from the club's branches and leading shopping outlets in the country.

Gor Mahia won the 2013 Premier League title after a dry spell of 18 years and are currently on top of the league. Endite
