Gun battle leaves 4 dead in N. Afghanistan

A gun battle between Taliban militants and security personnel in Jauzjan province have left four persons including three militants dead, provincial police chief Faqir Mohammad Jauzjani said Sunday.

"The clash flared up after the anti-government insurgents attacked security check points in Darzab district late Saturday night and since then gun battle has been continuing," Jauzjani told Xinhua.

He also said that so far three militants and a local policeman had been killed and three others including a militant and two policemen sustained injuries.

Taliban militants who have intensified activities since last May also launched an offensive in Hesarak district of the eastern Nangarhar province couple of days ago and firefight is still continuing there. Endi
