India sends Boeing jet to evacuate nationals from Libya

An Air India plane Wednesday took off from here for Tunisia to bring back about 200 Indians stuck in Libya, said foreign ministry officials.

A Boeing 777-LR (Long Range) is flying to Djerba to bring back these people by Thursday morning.Air India has sent special flights to war-torn areas of Iraq and Libya several times.

Forty-four Indian nurses arrived in the southern state of Kerala Tuesday, after being evacuated from Libya through Tunisia and United Arab Emirates.

Large parts of Libya are reportedly witnessing intense fighting between Islamist militants and government forces. Endi
