Tajik athletes leave for Youth Olympic Games

A delegation of eight Tajik athletes will leave for China's Nanjing Thursday evening to participate in the second Youth Olympic Games.

According to the National Olympic Committee of Tajikistan (NOC), the Tajik athletes will compete in seven sports including archery, shooting, swimming, judo, wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling and athletics.

The Tajik team includes wrestlers Ravzatullo Isoev, Tohirjon Ohonov, Firuz Yakubov, judoka Farruh Salimov, swimmer Karina Klimik, archer Anisa Zamirova, shooter Jafar Shermatov.

Asian junior wrestling champion Firuz Yakubov will be the standard bearer of the Tajik national team at the opening ceremony of the Games that will be held from August 16 to 28, in Nanjing.

The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre stadium at 20:00 local time on Aug. 16.

The Youth Olympic Games are a sporting event held every four years for young people aged 15-18 from all over the world. Endit
