Germany's benchmark DAX inches up

The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Thursday went up and closed above 9,400 points.

The DAX index, despite its ups and downs recently, will probably rise up to 11,000 points within the year 2014, the German daily quoted analysts at Deutsche Bank as saying. The DAX index added 86.96 points and closed at 9,401.53 points.

Siemens AG was the biggest winner and rose by 2.04 percent. Continental AG, BASF SE, Commerzbank AG and Deutsche Telekom AG all made it on the top risers' list, up by 1.76 percent, 1.56 percent, 1.52 percent and 1.43 percent respectively.

The fertilizer company K+S Aktiengesellschaft, which advanced by 0.54 percent on Wednesday, dropped the most by 1.99 percent. The steel giant ThyssenKrupp AG lost 1.4 percent and adidas AG slipped by 1.06 percent.

The turnover was 2.34 billion euros (around 3.11 billion U.S. dollars). Siemens AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 193.71 million euros. (1 euro = 1.34 U.S. dollars) Enditem
