A recent meeting of international mediators in Minsk discussed the possibility of reaching a ceasefire between government troops and pro-independence insurgents in eastern Ukraine, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.
The talks also touched upon some key points to a peaceful settlement of the conflict, including the release of hostages and the security of humanitarian cargo deliveries to restive areas, ministry spokesman Eugene Perebiynis told reporters during a briefing.
The representatives of the contact group agreed to continue their negotiations in the nearest future, he added.
On Monday, representatives from Ukraine, Russia and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) held talks in Minsk to search for political ways out of the conflict in eastern Ukraine, which had killed over 2,500 people. Endi
