Preparations are at an advanced stage in Botswana ahead of the Africa netball world championships qualifiers that starts in a week's time.

Botswana Netball Association (BONA) president Tebogo Lebotse- Sebego said on Monday they are ready to host a successful tournament. Botswana is hosting the qualifiers from September 19 to 30.

Lebotse-Sebego said up to now a lot of work has been done regarding preparations and they are only doing final touches in preparation to welcome the visiting teams.

She said the association has been busy bringing in business partners to assist them with funds and other resources necessary to host the tournament.

At least eight African countries including Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Uganda, Swaziland and Kenya along with the host have confirmed participation in the tournament. Some of the countries are expected to arrive in the southern African country this coming Friday to acclimatize with the conditions before the tournament starts.

The eight teams are divided into two pools where they will play in a round robin format with the top two teams in each pool progressing to the next elimination round. The teams that finish first and second will then seal a ticket to the 2015 netball world championships.

Botswana is in group A alongside Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Kenya. Group B on the other side put together Uganda, Namibia, Zambia and Swaziland. Endite
