China's Alex Hua Tian won the silver medal of the eventing individual on his debut at the Asian Games here on Friday.

This is China's first medal finishing in the individual event at any international championships. China won their first medal when they finished third in the eventing team competition in Guangzhou Asiad.

South Korea's Song Sangwuk rode his Frh Fantasia with a perfect run in Friday's jumping to take the gold medal, while his compatriot Bang Sire finished third.

Hua Tian, with his first-time partner Temujin, rode for the first time at the continental gala after he missed the last version due to horse problem in Guangzhou four years ago.

He finished second to Song after the dressage on the first day and received three points penalty on Friday, which was enough for the silver.

"I'm overwhelmingly happy for myself, my horse, and the owner. We came here with no much expectation. My horse is young and inexperienced. But today he finished unbelievable," Hua Tian said.

"This is also my first podium finish in international championships. I hope, in the next four years, I could be a consistent medal finisher," he added.

South Korea also won the eventing team gold medal, while Japan and Hong Kong of China finishing second and third respectively. Endit
