Estonians laid flowers and lighted candles at the Monument "Broken Line" outside the old town in Tallinn from Sept. 27-28 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of sinking of the Ferry Estonia that claimed 852 lives on board.
The ferry Estonia sank at the Baltic sea near Stockholm during the first hours of Sept. 28, 1994, en route from Tallinn to Stockholm, taking 852 lives with it, which has been seen as "the Baltic Titanic" tragedy.
Those who did not survive were remembered in a church service and concert in downtown Tallinn, which ran from 7 p.m. Saturday until 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, exactly 20 years after the ferry sank.
Estonian Interior Minister Hanno Pevkur joined hundreds of the Estonian people in the commemoration. Enditem
