Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Janusz Piechocinski met with U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker, with the United States expressing interest in importing Polish fruit and vegetables, it was reported Tuesday.

Pritzker said the U.S. Department of Agriculture is closely cooperating with the Polish government to facilitate the export of Polish fruit and vegetables that have been embargoed by Russia.

Addressing energy security, Pritzker pointed out that the U.S. Department of Energy conditionally approved exports of some 10.5 billion cubic feet of daily liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports, explaining this was a larger amount than all Europe's daily imports.

Polish Foreign Minister Grzegorz Schetyna also met Pritzker to discuss U.S. investments in Poland and the effect of the Ukrainian crisis on the economy.

Schetyna emphasized the dynamic growth rate of bilateral economic cooperation, adding: "We are convinced that we can continue to develop our trade and investment cooperation."

Poland's exports to the United States went up 34 percent year-on-year in 2013, with bilateral trade reaching a record value of 10 million U.S. dollars. The value of U.S. investment in Poland over the past 25 years is estimated at 30 billion U.S. dollars, according to the Polish Foreign Ministry.

Pritzker visited Warsaw with a high-level delegation of top U.S. CEOs, all of whom are members of the U.S. President's Export Council (PEC). The PEC serves as the principal U.S. national advisory committee on international trade. Endit
