22,000 policemen, soldier to secure inauguration of Indonesian new president

Indonesian police and armed forces (TNI) are to deploy 22,000 of their personnel to secure the inauguration of Indonesian new president on Oct. 22, police chief said here on Monday.

National Police chief General Sutarman disclosed that the security would be done in four levels at the parliament building, the venue of the inauguration.

"We will dispatch about 22 personnel of police and TNI to secure the inauguration," he said at the State Palace.

Joko Widodo, popularly known by his nick name Jokowi, and pairing with Jusuf Kalla won the July 9 Indonesian presidential polls, defeating rival former general Prabowo Subianto with running mate Hatta Rajasa, former economic chief minister.

Jokowi would replace President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Endi
