Bomb blast kills 2 in Kabul, Afghan forces arrest 4 militants in Kandahar

At least two people were killed and three others sustained injuries as a bomb blast rocked the fifth district of the national capital Kabul city on Tuesday, Interior Ministry said in a statement released here hours after the violent incident.

"Two innocent civilians lost their lives and three others including a student and an employee of Kabul Municipality sustained injuries as a roadside bomb struck a car in Kota-e-Sangi locality at 07:40 a.m. local time today," the statement added.

However, it didn't identify the third victim, saying investigation has been initiated into the case.

Meanwhile, Taliban outfit which has intensified activities over the past couple of months has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Zabihullah Mujahid who claims to speak for the Taliban militants, in talks with media via telephone from unknown location claimed that an intelligence official along with his bodyguard were killed in the blast.

On the other hand, the personnel of National Directorate for Security (NDS) or the country's intelligence agency in the counter- terrorism operations have captured four militants in Taliban former stronghold the southern Kandahar province, a statement of Kandahar provincial government sent to media outlets on Tuesday said.

All the arrested people are Afghans and have confessed to their involvement in terrorist activities and their affiliation to the Taliban outfit, the statement asserted. Endi
