Morocco will send military forces to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to help fight terrorism and preserve regional peace and stability, the Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

Speaking at a press briefing in Rabat, Moroccan Foreign Minister Salaheddine Mezouar did not reveal further information on this mission, such as the specific number of the dispatched troops.

The mission is part of the tradition of successful partnership and strong solidarity between the two brotherly countries. It will reinforce a historic and multifaceted military and security cooperation with Gulf States, the ministry said.

"Morocco will provide military support to these brother countries in case that the Gulf states require intervention," the minister said. "It supports and complements the other measures taken on the Moroccan territory to preserve the security and tranquility of Moroccan citizens against the threat of international terrorism."

According to the ministry, Morocco's contribution will focus on military operational and intelligence aspects. In addition to its recognized international humanitarian operations and peace-keeping commitment, Morocco has participated in several military operations to defend national security and territorial integrity of brotherly and friendly countries.

Over decades, Morocco has deployed hundreds of soldiers on the UAE territory, as part of its commitment to the security of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the ministry added. Endi
