Three Tunisian soldiers were killed, and at least five others were injured on Wednesday in a terrorist attack in Kef, northwest of the country, defense ministry spokesperson Bhassen Oueslati said.

Military forces are currently conducting large sweeping operations in the mountains of the area to locate the suspects, he said, adding that the terrorist group opened fire on soldiers who were on a bus with their families, using Kalashnikov weapons.

Both defense and interior ministries have previously declared that Tunisia is on a high security alert when the country's legislative elections commenced late last month. The country is also going to hold presidential elections on November 23. Endi
