Top United Arab Emirates (UAE) diplomat Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan warned here on Wednesday that the ongoing clashes between the Israelis and the Palestinians in Jerusalem could trigger a third Intifada (uprising) , Emirati state news agency WAM reported.

''It is high time to stop Israeli violence in Jerusalem and we should all work together and use all means towards that end," he said while addressing a meeting attended by ambassadors from UN Security Council member states.

The UAE foreign minister's remarks came as a response to the latest events in Jerusalem where on Wednesday clashes erupted near the Al-Aqsa mosque between the Israeli military, who entered parts of the mosque, and the Palestinians demonstrators, following a Palestinian refugee who drove his car into a group of Israelis, killing one bystander and injuring several others.

He said UAE has deep concerns over the recent developments " regarding Israel's desecration of the sanctity of Al Aqsa Mosque."

The minister also said at the meeting that his country supports a two-state solution to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

''We understand that Israel is using the memory of the Holocaust as a trump card against Europe and the U.S., but this does not justify, under any circumstances, what Israel is doing in Jerusalem,'' he added.

Ambassadors to UAE from China, France, the United States, Britain, Russia, as well as some other UN Security Council members showed up at the meeting. Endi
