Tokyo shares opened higher Thursday on a buoyant overnight performance of the Dow Jones Industrial Average that closed at a record high on the Republicans' victory in U.S. midterm elections.
At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 74.54 points, or 0.44 percent, from Wednesday to 17,011.86.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 4.78 points, or 0.35 percent, to 1,376. 54. Endi
