Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Wednesday pushed the European Union to help remove the obstacles on exports of Indonesia's products to the group's territory.
The president conveyed the request to visiting European Council President Herman Van Rompuy in a meeting at the State Palace.
Among Indonesia's main export products to the European Union are crude palm oil (CPO), bio-diesel fuel and fishery products, whose shipment to the European Union has been long hampered by tariff and non-tariff barriers.
"We have discussed on the barriers of our products shipped to the European Union. I conveyed to him, please help settle them," said President Widodo at the palace after the meeting.
The European Union is the second largest consumer of Indonesia' s products after Japan, and Indonesia's exports to the union reach over 2.4 billion U.S. dollars annually, the president said.
