Campaigning for Tunisia's presidential elections, which will take place on Sunday, Nov. 23, came to an end on Friday.

Saturday will mark the electoral silence when propaganda for the 27 presidential candidates, who began their campaigns early this month, will stop.

Nidaa Tounes, which won the majority of seats in the new parliament, has their leader Beji Caid Essebsi as presidential candidate. However, the Islamist party of Ennahdha, which came second in the legislative elections, did not nominate a candidate.

"Ennahdha Party chose to abstain from presenting its own candidate for these elections in order to avoid deepening polarization or dividing the country. It also chose to let its members and supporters make their own choice in electing the candidate," reads Ennahdha's latest communique made public on Thursday.

Hamma Hammami, the presidential candidate of the leftist Popular Front, and businessman Slim Riahi, candidate of the Free Patriotic Union (UPL), are still a part of the presidential race, alongside with the current Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki. Endi
