Guinea-Bissau PM visiting Cuba to boost ties

Guinea-Bissau's visiting Prime Minister Domingos Simoes Pereira on Friday called for strengthening relationship with Cuba in healthcare and agriculture, the Cuban News Agency said.

Simoes, who is on an official visit to the Caribbean island nation, said he hoped for more cooperation in the areas of "healthcare, agriculture, and the start of collaboration in other areas, such as naval construction," the agency said.

"We are going to try and cooperate with Cuba and receive its support in all areas that are of mutual interest," Simoes said.

Cuba and Guinea-Bissau established diplomatic ties in 1973. Since then, Havana has collaborated with the African nation mainly in the areas of healthcare and education. Some 1,520 students from Guinea-Bissau have graduated from Cuban universities. Endi
