Vietnam played to a 2-2 draw with Indonesia in their first match in Group A of the 2014 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Football Federation (AFF) Championship here on Saturday.

Defender Ngoc Hai scored the opener for Vietnam in the 11th minute before Indonesia netted in the equalizer in minute 33 through Zamrun.

Striker Cong Vinh put Vietnam ahead again at the 69th minute after replacing Hai Anh over 10 minutes earlier. However, the match was again leveled as Vietnamese goalkeeper failed to defend his frame later on.

Earlier on the day, Laos was defeated 4-1 by the Philippines. Though scoring the first goal of the match, Laos failed to keep the momentum and lost the match.

On Nov. 25, Vietnam will play Laos while the Philippines will meet Indonesia.

The 2014 AFF Cup is co-hosted by Vietnam and Singapore from Nov. 22 to Dec. 20.

Vietnam host matches of Group A (Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia and Laos) while Group B (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Myanmar) will play in Singapore. Endi
