Two harassed college-going sisters Sunday thrashed three men inside a moving bus in the northern Indian state of Haryana, while passengers remaining mute spectators to their plight, said police.

Late tonight, police said all the three youths who sexually harassed the two sisters have been arrested.

"We have arrested the three accused and they will be produced before court tomorrow," said a police officer in the city of Rohtak, Haryana which neighbors the Indian capital.

The incident triggered spontaneous indignation from women rights activists, with National Commission for Women chairperson Lalitha Kumarmangalam asking the authorities to take appropriate action against he accused.

Both sisters confronted the accused, with one of the girls hitting the youths with her belt, said local media reports.

The incident was reminiscent of the gang rape in the Indian capital two years ago, when six men brutally assaulted a medical student in a moving bus. The 23-year-old women died of internal injuries after being raped and beaten up by the gang. Endi
