Second Eurostat estimate confirms eurozone Q3 GDP up 0.2 pct

Seasonally-adjusted gross domestic product (GDP) rose 0.2 percent in the eurozone and 0.3 percent in the wider European Union (EU) during the third quarter of 2014 from the previous quarter, official figures showed on Friday.

According to a second estimate published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU, the figures confirm the flash estimates by Eurostat on Nov. 14.

In the second quarter of 2014, GDP grew 0.1 percent in the euro area and by 0.2 percent in the wider EU.

Compared with the same quarter the previous year, seasonally-adjusted GDP rose 0.8 percent in the eurozone and 1.3 percent in the EU in the third quarter of 2014.

Among member states, Romania, Poland, Greece, Slovenia and Britain recorded the highest growth in the third quarter compared with the previous quarter, while Cyprus, Austria and Italy registered contractions. Endit
