China's humanitarian aid items arrive at Iraqi Kurdish region

Two aircraft carrying the China's humanitarian aid items arrived in Erbil, the capital city of Iraqi Kurdish region on Tuesday.

Chinese Consul General in Erbil Tan Banglin handed over the materials worth about 30 million yuan in total to Iraqi Kurdish region officially after a handover ceremony at the airport and signed a transfer certificate with Thahir Osman, vice governor of Erbil province.

Tan said at the ceremony that the Chinese government and people deeply sympathize with the Iraqi refugees and displaced people affected by the invasion of the Islamic State.

He said that these humanitarian aid assistance is part of the country's support to the counter-terrorism efforts of Iraq, including the Kurdish region.

Osman expressed appreciation on behalf of the Kurdish regional government and the refugees to Chinese government and people.

He said the Kurdish regional government would distribute these materials as soon as possible to the refugees and displaced people.

Osman added that the Iraqi Kurdish region had accepted 1.6 million Iraqi displaced people and Syrian refugees, "China's assistance is very valuable and timely at this difficult time." Endit
