Brunei youths participating in the 41st Ship for South East Asian Youth Program (SSEAYP), arrived safely in the country last night aboard a flight via Kuala Lumpur, the state-run Radio and Television Brunei reported on Saturday.
It was the country's 29th participation in the program this year. On arrival, they were welcomed home by the Acting Director of Youth and Sports, Awang Haji Rosmadee bin Haji Mohamad Daud and senior officers of the Youth and Sports Department.
28 participants led by Assistant Chief Youth and Sports Officer Awang Faisal bin Yunus, took part in the 52-day program which began on the 28th of October.
The SSEAYP is a youth exchange program that was pioneered by the ASEAN countries and Japan in 1974. As the number of members in ASEAN grew, in 1997 all members in ASEAN have been finally participating in this program. This program is handled by the participating countries with Japan as the main sponsor.
Youth exchange program can be achieved through sharing their lives onboard the ship, introducing each other about their countries, participating in discussions and various exchange activities both onboard and in the countries they visited. Endi
