Former U.S. National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden is leading a life "close to normal" in Moscow, his Russian lawyer Anatoly Kucherena said Monday.
"He found a job and works in his occupational field, as an IT consultant in one company," Kucherena told the government-run Rossiiskaya Gazeta daily.
The lawyer did not specify the company's name, but said his client "has found himself in his new life and feels himself self- fulfilled."
The 31-year-old wanted man lives like an ordinary Muscovite, riding metro and buying essentials in the city's supermarkets, Kucherena said, adding Snowden receives financial support from fans besides salaries.
Snowden, who has been keeping low profile since he was granted a one-year asylum in Russia in August 2013 and extended the term for another year, rents a modest apartment in Moscow he can afford, the lawyer said.
The IT analyst was wanted by the United States over three felony charges including espionage, after he disclosed a highly confidential intelligence project codenamed PRISM and threw Washington to the mire of accusations.
Kucherena has written a novel titled "Time of The Octopus" about Snowden's saga and sold the copyright to U.S. director Oliver Stone, who may start producing the movie in early 2015. Endite
