FC Porto's star forward, Yacine Brahimi, on Monday was chosen Algeria's player of the year by winning the Ballon d'Or, after an oustanding performance with the Algerian soccer squad in 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Brahimi collected the award from Europe's best player, Frank Ribery. FC Porto's ace was contesting the trophy with four of his team mates, namely Valencia's ace Sofiane Feghouli, Club Afiracain's playmaker, Abdelmoumene Djabou, Dynamo Zagreb's striker, Hillel El Arbi Soudani, and last year's winner Islam Slimani, striker of Sporting Lisbon.
African Champions League's winners, ES Setif, were attributed the best team award, while their coach, Kheireddine Madoui was given the trophy of best coach.
The Algerian Ballon d'Or is an award given each year to the Algerian best player by the soccer newspaper of El Heddaf - Le Buteur since 2000.
The ceremony was attended by a couple of international soccer stars, including French international and Bayern Munich's ace, Franck Ribery and former Italian international defender, Franco Barizi, in addition to former coach of Egyptian soccer team, Hassan Shehata.
