Argentine forward Julio Furch has joined Mexico's Tiburones Rojos (Red Sharks), in a bid to bolster the football club from the Gulf Coast state of Veracruz.
The 25-year-old German-Argentine Furch, who stands 1.89 meters tall and is nicknamed "The Russian," has signed a three-year contract with the team, Mexican media reported Sunday.
Prior to this move, Furch played only for Argentinian League teams Olimpo, San Lorenzo, Arsenal and Belgrano, Mexico's Televisa TV network reported on its website, adding the player scored eight goals in 18 games with the last team.
"I played many years in Argentina (and) I really wanted to play abroad. Luckily, the Veracruz (deal) came through pretty quickly and I'm happy about that," Furch said, according to the network.
"I know the Mexican League is hard and tough, I hope I can do well and fulfill the expectations" of the team, added Furch.
The Tiburones, a First Division team that currently ranks in 12th place nationally, has other three Argentine players in its lineup, as well as players from Colombia, Chile and Uruguay. Endi
