Nasser Al-Attiyah stretched his overall lead by winning Wednesday's 10th stage of the Dakar Rally.

The 44-year-old won the 859km leg from Calama in Chile to the northern Argentine city of Salta in three hours, 49 minutes and 59 seconds.

His Mini colleague Orlando Terranova finished second, a minute and 35 seconds further back, while Yazeed Al-Rajhi was third.

It was Al-Attiyah's fourth stage victory of the event and he is now a firm favorite to win the title for a second time.

The Qatari driver leads South African Giniel de Villiers in the overall standings by more than 28 minutes.

In Thursday's 11th stage drivers will travel 520km south from Salta to Termas de Rio Hondo.

Meanwhile, Spain's Joan Barreda won Wednesday's motorcycle stage while defending champion Marc Coma extended his overall lead to more than seven minutes. Endi
