Tajikistan becomes member of AIIB

Tajikistan became a member of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), an initiative proposed by China in a bid to finance infrastructure projects across Asia, the state-run Khovar news agency reported Friday.

The decision to admit Tajikistan into the AIIB was made Thursday at a regular meeting of the bank's founding members in Mumbai, India, the report said.

In October 2014, 21 Asian countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of the AIIB in Beijing.

The bank, with an authorized capital of 100 billion U.S. dollars, is expected to get into operation before the end of 2015. Endi
