A 300-year-old Stradivarius violin will be played in Malta for one of the first times in over 50 years.

Crafted by the legendary string instrument-maker Antonio Stadivariis, the violin will be played at a concert entitled A Stradivarius Among Us, which will fall on March 15 at St Paul's Anglican Cathedral in Valletta.

Organised under the patronage of the President of Malta, the one-off concert will feature the world-renowned Stradivarius player Mro Matteo Fedeli.

The ticket proceeds of the concert is to go to various cancer charities.

"Following months of hard work, we are very proud to announce this unique concert," says project manager Marc Cabourdin, "This will doubtlessly be a wonderful opportunity for many to see and, more importantly to listen to, one of the most beautiful and coveted instruments in the world."

Ahead of the concert, the violin, which is estimated to cost as high as 2.5 million euros (about 2.83 million U.S. dollar), will also be on display at the President's Palace in Valletta on March 14 free for entry. Endit
