Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Saturday strongly condemned a terrorist attack against a mosque in Pakistan.

"Killing of defenseless individuals, particularly those offering prayers, is solely un-Islamic and inhuman act that is never justifiable," the Afghan leader said in a statement released by Presidential Palace.

On Friday, at least 19 people were killed and over 40 others injured in a twin suicide attack at a mosque of Shia Muslims in Pakistan's northwestern provincial capital of Peshawar.

"President Ghani once again insisted on firm struggle against terrorism that is a common threat for region and the world -- Afghanistan and Pakistan in particular," said the statement.

President Ghani offered condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families of this incident, it added.

He also strongly condemned killing of an Afghan High Peace Council member, Hajji Sherin Agha, who was shot dead by terrorists in Afghan Kandahar province.

Agha was killed while he was praying in a local mosque in Kandahar city, the provincial capital of southern Afghan province of Kandahar on Thursday night, according to the statement. Endi
