DPRK says to launch anti-graft campaign within ruling party

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said it will roll out an anti-graft campaign within the ruling Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), the state media reported Thursday.

A resolution adopted at an enlarged meeting of the political bureau of the central committee of the WPK on Wednesday underscored the need to stick to and carry out the behests of late leader Kim Jong Il.

The resolution also called for efforts to be channeled into implementation to "thoroughly establish the monolithic leadership system of Kim Jong Un," according to the official KCNA news agency.

"The resolution stressed the need to wage an all-party intensive campaign against abuse of power, bureaucratism, irregularities and corruption," the KCNA said.

It also asked the officials to "devote their blood and sweat to solving knotty problems in people's living and difficult problems of people."

The DPRK's top leader Kim Jong Un made a concluding speech at the meeting, in which he emphasized that "President Kim Il Sung's and Kim Jong Il's behests concerning the problems of food and clothing essential should be carried out before any other behests."

Kim also urged officials to work and live "simple-mindedly, uprightly and honestly with conscience." Endi
