FBI director discusses fight against terrorism, corruption with Bulgarian authorities

Visiting U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James B. Comey here on Wednesday discussed issues such as the fight against terrorism and corruption with Bulgarian authorities.

Comey and his Bulgarian counterpart Vladimir Pisanchev, chairperson of the State Agency for National Security (SANS), discussed the direction of future cooperation. They focused on the need to strengthen the exchange of information in connection with movement of foreign fighters to and from conflict zones in the Middle East, SANS said in a press release.

The leaders also discussed the fight against cyber attacks and stressed on actions to fight corruption.

Comey also discussed measures to tackle terrorism and combat corruption with Bulgaria's Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov.

"The FBI director committed to the possibility of practical training of Bulgarian prosecutors to combat terrorism," the Prosecutor General's office said.

There is an urgent need to adopt new anti-terrorism legislation, the two officials said.

Comey also met with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. Endit
