India to soon set up one-stop centers, helplines for women: Modi

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday announced that his government would soon set up one- stop centers and mobile helplines for women.

"The government is setting up one-stop centers that will provide assistance, legal advice and psychological counseling to women who face violence or abuse," Modi said in a statement on the occasion of International Women's Day.

He added "The government is also commencing a mobile helpline to enable women to dial 181 for access to counseling and referral services."

The prime minister also said that the Indian government remains fully committed to bringing a positive change in the lives of women and urged citizens to walk shoulder-to-shoulder in a bid to end all forms of discrimination or injustice against women.

"My government has initiated several measures aimed at bringing about a positive change in the lives of women. That is central to our vision of India's progress," he said. Endi
