British FTSE 100 closes lower on Thursday

FTSE 100 Index, the British benchmark stock market gauge, Thursday decreased by 1.37 percent, or 95.64 points, to 6,895.33 points.

Weir Group's share price increased by 0.51 percent, topped the gainers of the blue chips. Hikma Pharmaceuticals and Randgold Resources increased by 0.46 percent and 0.41 percent respectively.

London Stock Exchange Group led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 5.63 percent, followed by ARM Holdings (4.17 percent), Schroders (4.07 percent), St James's Place (3.47 percent) and Hargreaves Lansdown (3.40 percent).

The index has gained 6.24 percent so far this year when measured in U.S. dollar. Endit
