A shallow and strong 6.0 magnitude undersea-quake jolted eastern part of Indonesia on Wednesday, but it was not potential for tsunami and caused no damage or casualty, official said here.

The quake struck at 16:35 p.m. Jakarta time (1035 GMT) with epicenter at 120 km southwest Maluku Tenggara and with the depth at 10 km under sea bed, an official of the agency told Xinhua by phone.

"We do not issue a tsunami warning. The shakes of the quake were not significantly felt and we have not got any report of casualties," he said.

Indonesia is prone to quake as it lies on a vulnerable quake- hit zone called"the Pacific Ring of Fire." Endi
