Russia sticks to consistent anti-corruption policy: Kremlin

The fight against corruption in Russia is consistent, Kremlin spokesman said Friday.

"It is impossible to fight against corruption in a transitory manner ... While single actions cannot be regarded as a kind of a breakthrough," Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

He added that recent crackdown on corrupted Russian officials, "no matter moderate or intensified," is not linked to current economic difficulties.

Still, the official noted that work has not been made public deliberately, as transparency of anti-corruption actions would only harm the efficiency.

In recent weeks, several Russian senior officials were removed from office after law-enforcement agencies have opened criminal investigations over public funds embezzlement and other corruption cases.

Among those dismissed are the governor of Sakhalin region, Chelyabinsk region's deputy governor, a high-ranking official of Defense Ministry, former director of the Federal Penitentiary Service and so on. Endi
