Mexican western state of Jalisco, where an outbreak of drug-related violence killed seven, remained in red alert, local authorities said Saturday.

Mexican prosecutor Carlos Najera wrote on his Twitter account that "authorities of three levels of government (federal, state and local) are still alert in case of any possible emergency situation," referring to the violent outbreak that left seven dead on Friday.

Najera added that with the reinforcement of surveillance and patrol a calm atmosphere was reported Saturday morning.

Jalisco state governor Aristoteles Sandoval said that the red alert will continue throughout the weekend.

Mexican authorities are still searching for three missing soldiers, after gunmen brought down their helicopter, according to local media.
