Top-seeded Andy Murray overpowered two-time champion Philipp Kohlschreiber to lift his first ever clay court title at the BMW Open final in Munich on Monday.

The 27-year-old world's No. 3 fought back from a 3-2 first-set deficit to seal his 32nd career title in three sets 7-6 (7-4), 5-7, 7-6 (7-4) by converting his second match ball after 3 hours and 4 minutes.

The final on Sunday was interrupted after only 23 minutes, with the scores at 3-2 for Kohlschreiber, and continued on Monday due to heavy and continuing rain.

Both players staged a contested but evenly balanced final on a high level in front of roughly 3000 spectators.

The world's No. 24 Kohlschreiber gave away his first-set break by losing the tiebreak 7-4. The German fought back when he broke Murray's serve to wrap up the second set 7-5, restoring parity on the scoreboards. Nevertheless, the Scotsman remained unimpressed and sealed the deal by winning the second tiebreak 7-4. Endite
