The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) raised its alert on Hakone area in Kanagawa Prefecture from level 2 to level 3, meaning "do not entering the alert area," after a total of 10 volcanic earthquakes jolted the famous tourist site about 70 km southwest of Tokyo Tuesday morning.

The agency also issued evacuation advisory in the area within 1 km radius from the Owakudani in the Hakone area.

Volcanic activities intensified recently across Japan. A large volcano eruption in Kagoshima prefecture triggered highest evacuation alert in an island off the prefecture, while another volcano erupted this month in Nagano Prefecture.

The JMA issued alerts over 10 volcanoes across Japan from level 2 to level 5 currently. Endi
