Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has received an order of 46 megawatts (mw) for a wind power plant in the Indian State of Karnataka, the company said Wednesday.

The order entails delivery of 23 wind turbines of the V100-2.0 MW type, and includes supply, installation, commissioning and a 15-year service agreement, Vestas said in a press release.

The project is expected to power approximately 100,000 Indian households. Delivery and commissioning are scheduled for the second quarter of 2016.

"We are very pleased with this order. It proves the strength of the V110-2.0 MW and Vestas' strong service set-up in the Indian market," said Jorn Hammer, Vestas Senior Vice President and Head of India.

Vestas ranks among the world's leading wind-turbine manufacturers, delivering wind energy in 73 countries worldwide. Endit
