The Czech cabinet on Wednesday decided to send the rest of the ammunition it donated to Iraq in the fight again Islamic State in 2014, said Czech Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek.

Zaoralek said that the ammunition worth 16 million crowns (640 million U.S. dollars) and weighing 260 tons will be transferred to Iraq by the U.S. military.

Last year, Czech sent over eight million cartridges for 7.62 mm machine guns and over 5,000 cartridges for the RPG-7 anti-tank grenade launcher to Iraq via the Kurdish Regional Council.

It will deliver more than 10 million 7.62 mm cartridges for the Kalashnikov automatic rifles and 5,000 hand grenades this time.

The Czech government approved the donation of ammunition from older military stockpiles to Kurds worth 41 million crowns at the end of August in 2014.

The previous donation of machine-gun bullets was brought to Irbil by a Canadian military aircraft last September and the anti-tank grenade was transported by a U.S. Army aircraft last December. (1 U.S. dollars = 25 crowns) Endit
