Laos reports 69 road fatalities in July

Police in Laos have recorded 69 recorded fatalities for the month of July, down from 84 of the previous month.

The figures released by the nation's Traffic Police Department revealed most deaths occurring in the capital Vientiane with 18 fatalities from 124 accidents reported.

Police continue to identify intoxication and other forms of dangerous driving for the high accident and fatality rates in the country which has seen at least 614 road users lose their lives on in the first seven months of 2015.

With capacity to respond to accidents outside urban areas or away from main trunk roads limited, it is believed a significant number of accidents go unrecorded rendering reported figures an underestimation of the full extent of traffic accidents and related fatalities. Endi
