Iceland's CPI up 0.53 pct between July, August

Iceland's Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.53 percent as of the middle of August, according to statistics issued on Thursday by Statistics Iceland.

The statistics showed the CPI in August was 432.3 points, up 0.53 percent compared with 430.0 points in middle of July.

Among factors influencing the CPI were the cost of housing, water and electricity that rose by 0.5 percent, the prices of clothing and footwear that rose by 5.4 percent, and the prices of petrol and diesel oil that decreased by 4.0 percent.

Price statistics are based on price collection that takes place for at least one week in the middle of each month. Endit
